Satbayev University staff opened the celebration in honor of Science Day by laying flowers at Kanysh Satbayev’s monument
Scientists and students gathered at Satbayev University today to celebrate Science Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, to lay flowers and honor 125th anniversary of the great Kazakh geologist Kanysh Satbayev.
The event, organized by Satbayev University, was a vivid manifestation of respect for Kanysh Satbayev's legacy and his contribution to science and education evolvement in Kazakhstan. On this spring day, Chairman of RK MSHE Science Committee Galymzhan Zhankuatov, President of National Engineering Academy Bakytzhan Zhumagulov, representatives of ERG and “Kazakhmys-Barlau” companies and other heads of scientific and production enterprises gathered in Almaty, including his grand-daughter Professor, Doctor of Chemical Sciences Alima Zharmagambetova.
- I congratulate you on Science Day, on the anniversary of Kanysh Imantayevich and on 25th anniversary of the tradition of gathering here, near his monument, - Alima Kainekeyevna said in her speech. - And I am glad that it stands right here, next to one of the best technical universities in Kazakhstan that supports these traditions. Ceremony participants recalled Satbayev's outstanding scientific achievements, being inspired by his example and ideals in order to continue his work, developing his ideas and legacy. Ceremony ended with the traditional photo shoot.
After the ceremony, "International Satbayev Conference 2024. Integration of science and Technology: Path to Sustainable Development" (Satbayev Readings - 2024) international scientific and practical conference started. This year, the interests of communities and sustainable development were at the center of the discussion - in the spirit of Kanysh Satbayev, who paid great attention to such issues.
