The scholarship of Fluor Corporation
In 2018, students of 4th years of the specialty "Chemical technology of organic substances" of the Institute of chemical and biological technologies Ondasheva Aigerim, Kengessova Dana and Tulebayeva Aigul were lucky to win the competitive election and become winners of the Fluor scholarship.
The scholarship certificates to students were presented from representatives of Fluor Kazakhstan Inc. Director David F. Hunter and Human Resource Manager by Laura Gammayeva.
Fluor is one of the world's largest engineering companies providing services in the field of design, construction, and maintenance in the oil refining, chemical and petrochemical industries. In Kazakhstan, it is known by that is designed and delivered “turnkey” “Second Generation Project /Raw Gas Injection” (SGP\RGI), FGP for Tengizchevroil Company at Tengiz oil and gas field.
At the same time, the company is well known as an investor of financial resources in the social programs of the countries in which it operates. The most significant area for Fluor is educational projects.
The long-term cooperation of Satbayev University with the Fluor company is a good example of business involvement in education.
During the work with KNRTU, Fluor has developed and implemented the project automated modeling using an object-oriented programme ChemCad. The key role in the preparation and implementation of this project belongs to the Director of the Engineering Department of Fluor in the UK, Nick Amott, who was directly involved in the implementation of this project. Since 2012, cooperation between KNRTU and Fluor has moved to a new format, in which summer schools, industrial and pre -diploma interships were held, also leading engineers of the company were invited as guest lecturers for students and teachers of the University.
In addition, the company has been providing sponsorship to talented students of the University for many years, annually allocating scholarships for students of chemical and technological specialties.
