MES RK academic mobility program.

Programs of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan

The Academic Mobility Program of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan provide students with the opportunity to take a semester at a foreign university. The Ministerial Grant includes round-trip airfares, 120-day accommodation, health insurance and a visa.

The competition for the grant award is held annually from February to April (in accordance with the MES RK request, the dates of the competition may be changed).

To participate in the competition, it is necessary to:

mark Apply to the Satbayev University Center for International Cooperation.
mark Take an English language test or provide a certificate of proficiency.

On the basis of the documents submitted and the results of the test, the commission selects successful candidates.

Every year, the MES RK clarifies the specific requirements of the documents.

Requirements for candidates

mark be a 2-4 year undergraduate students, 2-year master students;
mark have a high academic achievement (average score above 3.5);
mark foreign language fluency confirmed by a certificate (B2 and above);

The list of required documents:

Application to the Rector;
Notarized copy of the invitation with translation into Kazakh or Russian;
Tripartite Agreement;
Extract from the Academic Council of the Faculty;
Foreign Language Proficiency Certificate;
Individual curriculum;
Medical certificate (form No. 082).

Erasmus+ Program


Erasmus+ – A non-profit program of the European Union existing from 2014 to 2020 supporting cooperation and exchange of students and professors among universities of EU member states as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Norway, Turkey. More than 4,000 educational institutions from 33 countries participate in Erasmus+.

The name of the program comes from the Dutch philosopher Erasma Rotterdam, who lived and worked in many European cities to broaden his horizons and gain new knowledge. At the same time, the word Erasmus is an acronym decrypted as the «European Community Action Scheme to Increase the Mobility of University Students» (European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students).

Since 2007, the program has supported employment in foreign companies. Employers usually welcome Erasmus on a candidate’s resume. Since its launch in 1987, the program has attracted more than 2.2 million students. One in five European students is scheduled to participate in the program in 2020.

Erasmus students are accepted into the program on a competitive basis.

Requirements for candidates

mark be students for at least 2 years of study at home university;
mark have an average score above the university-defined level;
mark be proficient in the language of study at the host university.

The choice of the winner is made by the home university. The duration of study and internship ranges from 3 months to 1 year, in total - up to 2 years. Participation in the program is possible only once for the educational purposes and once for the work practice. Erasmus assures participants that time spent abroad will be counted by the university upon their home arrival.

Students do not pay for studies at the host university; all costs are covered by the European Union and the home university. Most students also receive a scholarship to cover living expenses abroad.

For many European students, participation in the Erasmus program is the first opportunity to live and learn abroad. As a result, the «Erasmus experience» is known as a cultural phenomenon. It is an opportunity not only to receive additional education, but also to connect with peers from other countries.

The list of required documents:

a copy of RK citizen's passport;
a transcript on current achievements certified by SU seal;
a document confirming the proficiency level in a foreign language (applicant provides one of the following documents):
a) a certificate obtained through international systems for assessing foreign language knowledge, if available (IELTS, TOEFL, etc.);
b) a letter of consent of a foreign university to accept a student with an available level of foreign language;
c) the result of testing of the Kazakhstani university (not lower than B2).
written consent of parents, guardians, legal representatives of the applicant to travel abroad, if he does not reach the age of 18 at the time of departure from the Republic of Kazakhstan;
a document on the composition of the family, to confirm the large family of the student;
a document confirming the absence of the student's parents (for the category of students related to orphans or students left without parental care);
a document confirming the student's disability.
Motivation letter (the letter should contain answers to the questions: Why will the Erasmus + program contribute to my future professional career? Why am I worthy of the Erasmus + scholarship? What are my expectations from the program?)
Letter of recommendation from the Professor or Director of the relevant institute;
The documents are submitted both in paper form in folders and in electronic version, indicating the full name, specialty and its code, department, institute and contact details of the candidate.



«Mevlana» exchange program envisages exchange of students and teaching staff between Satbayev University and Turkish university partners with partial financing of the Council of Higher Education of Turkey. Students are given the opportunity to study at a Turkish institution of higher education for one or two semesters, while teachers are given the opportunity to give lectures for less than six hours a week from two weeks to three months.

Students do not pay tuition fees and do not incur any additional costs in favour of the host university in the framework of the «Mevlana" exchange program, but continue to pay tuition fees at the university from which they come (if they are fee-paying students).

The Mevlana exchange program provides students with free tuition with a monthly scholarship of 1200-1300 TL supported by the Council for Higher Education of Turkey (YOK). Scholarships will be paid to students every month for four months after their arrival at the host university.

For teachers, the Mevlana programme provides funds to cover daily subsistence expenses of 45-55 Turkish liras per day. Transportation costs of 3,000-3,500 TL are also provided for.

Requirements for participation in the Mevlana Exchange Program

mark Have citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
mark Not to have previously participated in the Mevlana exchange program;
mark Be fluent in English or Turkish well.

As well for students:

mark Have a high GPA average:
- Undergraduate: at least 2.5 out of 4.0;
- Master's and doctoral studies: at least 3.00 out of 4.0.

For students:

mark A copy of the passport of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan (if there is no copy of the identity card);
mark Completed application form;
mark Transcript reference from the place of study;
mark Certificate of language proficiency (English or Turkish).

For teachers:

mark A copy of the passport of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan (if there is no copy of the identity card);
mark Resume and list of publications;
mark Lecture/Seminar Plan;
mark Certificate of language proficiency (English or Turkish).
