Zhassyl Almaty and Satbayev University have begun cooperation in the field of sustainable urban environment development

Satbayev University and Zhassyl Almaty, a municipal state institution for managing the public spaces in Almaty, signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of sustainable urban environment and ecology.

The parties agreed to develop joint initiatives in the field of sustainable development, ecology, engineering and digital solutions, as well as to involve students and graduates of Satbayev University in the real projects and provide practical training. Special attention within the framework of the cooperation will be paid to applied research, project work and the introduction of modern technological approaches in urban infrastructure management.

"I am sure that the given collaboration will bring great opportunities to both sides," Meiram Begentayev, Satbayev University’s Rector said at the meeting. "We are ready to provide technology and support in order to make our city cleaner and better. Moreover, our university has a SDG center, and we are already seeing the impact this can have. So we have big plans to implement rational approaches to employing the resources.

In addition to cooperation in the field of air purification, water resources management and the introduction of rational use of resources, the memorandum also includes year-round professional practices and internships for university students, as well as joint scientific and practical projects, the exchange of expertise and teaching methodologies, as well as creating the human resources for the urban environment. As a result of the cooperation, the parties hope to generate a long-term platform for the further implementation of specific joint initiatives.

The signing of the memorandum was an important step towards building a systematic partnership between science and urban practice aimed at addressing the urgent environmental and infrastructural challenges of the metropolis. The parties expressed confidence that combining the scientific potential of the university and the practical experience of Zhassyl Almaty will allow not only to introduce sustainable solutions into the urban environment, but also to form a new generation of specialists focused on responsible and long-term growth of the southern capital.
