Adil Shayakhmetov Space Communications Laboratory has been opened at Satbayev University
Satbayev University has taken another step in developing its own technology cluster by opening Space Communications Laboratory named after Lieutenant General Adil Shayakhmetov. The new scientific and educational space has become part of University's integrated ecosystem, combining the science, education and national security issues.
The opening of the laboratory is timed with 70th anniversary of Lieutenant General Adil Shayakhmetov - a university graduate whose professional biography is an example of service to Motherland, duty and honor. The solemn meeting "The name that unites science, education and security", dedicated to 70th anniversary of Adil Shayakhmetov, was attended by heads of government agencies, law enforcement agencies, scientists and representatives of foreign countries.
The laboratory was created on the basis of Electronics, Telecommunications and Space Technologies Department and is organically integrated into the existing university infrastructure, including Innovative Engineering Center, Stroytech Technopark and International R&D Center for advanced functional materials and their composites. This combination makes it possible to link fundamental research with practical engineering solutions and the training of specialists who are in demand in the economy’s real sector. The guests of the event visited University's research sites, paying special attention to applied research and innovative achievements of University.
The new laboratory is equipped with the modern VSAT satellite antenna system, a high-speed HT2300 modem, as well as MATLAB and ArcGIS Pro software packages. This makes it possible to simulate communication systems, analyze navigation data, and process Earth remote sensing information in real time. The laboratory was opened thanks to the support of RK Republican Space Communications Center and its “Kokterek” branch in Almaty.
