"Challenges of Science": the international conference combined research in the field of rare metals and technologies

International "Challenges of Science" scientific and practical Internet Conference was held at Satbayev University in Almaty, dedicated to 80^th anniversary of the founding of Metallurgy and Enrichment Institute. The event became a platform for discussing the achievements and work of Metallurgy and Enrichment Institute, as well as relevant interdisciplinary research and innovative technologies in the field of extraction and processing of rare and rare-earth metals.

Conference was opened by Satbayev University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev, who stressed that the history of Institute is 80 years of fundamental research and strong scientific schools, which today create innovations and manufacture high-tech products with high added value, strengthening the position of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the world stage:

"Our scientists are deeply immersed in scientific creativity and practical tasks," said Rector. "They don't have time to travel abroad, meet with colleagues, because their energy and efforts are focused on solving real problems and developing the science here and now."

 “Challenges of Science” conference provided an opportunity for scientists to discuss issues that they face in their daily work, including the effective extraction of rare and dispersed elements, the introduction of new hydro- and pyro-metallurgical approaches, and other innovative technologies. For two days, the work was conducted in the format of plenary sessions and thematic sections devoted to rare and rare earth metals, complex processing of mineral and man-made raw materials, as well as environmental aspects of metallurgical production.

Particular attention was paid to the modern science and education challenges. Participants discussed the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in education and research, the development of STEM fields, new materials, as well as modern approaches in chemistry, ecology and related disciplines. This interdisciplinary format emphasized the need to integrate fundamental and applied research to solve complex scientific and technological challenges.

Conference confirmed the role of Satbayev University as one of the leading scientific and educational centers in Kazakhstan and the region, actively developing the international cooperation and supporting scientific schools with the long history. The event was a logical continuation of University's strategy aimed at evolving the science, technology transfer and formation of responses to the global challenges of our time.
