The intellectual Drilling Mud Contest 2026 was held at Satbayev University, which was dedicated to research in the oil and gas field, as well as drilling and grouting fluids. Competition was opened by Yergali Auelkhan, director of Geology and Oil-gas Engineering Institute named after K. Turyssov, who noted the strategic importance of such initiatives for integrating the academic knowledge into production processes and thanked industrial partners for their assistance in training the personnel.

Contest partners were leading representatives of Baker Hughes Kazakhstan and Kaz PetroDrilling, who formed practical tasks for interdisciplinary teams working together to solve complex engineering tasks that are as close as possible to real production conditions. Over the course of two days, the teams developed projects on current cases in the oil and gas industry. Expert Commission with the participation of industrial partners highly appreciated the level of solutions presented, noting their practical significance and innovative approach.
