Kazakhstan's theatrical heritage is being revived on the stage of Technical University

Premiere of "Pai-pai, zhas zhubailar-ai!" performance based on the play by playwright and screenwriter Mukhametkali Khassenov, whose legacy at the university is continued by the head of ArtLab, his granddaughter Anel Syzdykova-Bitossi, took place at ArtLab Satbayev University. Authors of the play were director Aruzhan Yeleu and musical director Dmitry Severin. This is a landmark event for the university – it not only shapes engineering thinking, but also carefully preserves the history of the country as well as university.

Mukhametkali Khassenov is a Kazakhstani playwright whose work is associated with the evolvement of modern Kazakh theatrical comedy. He wrote plays reflecting everyday life, family relationships, and social changes in society, often using humor, satire, and lively conversational language. His play "Pai-pai, zhas zhubailar-ay!" ("Ah yes, the newlyweds!") is a comedic work dedicated to the theme of a young family and the married life first trials. The plot focuses on the relationship between the newlyweds, the clash of expectations and reality, as well as the influence of relatives and traditions on forming the young family.

The executed adaptation of the given play on Satbayev University stage has become a symbol passing through the epochs: the story of Polytech students of the 1970s resounded in modern stage language. Contemporary students of technical specialties live it anew, transferring the material to the present time, and Dos Mukasan songs get a new sound, preserving the connection of generations.

The performance was created with the support of Geology and Oil-gas Industry Institute, the famous fighter Mahmud Muradov, the digital production workshop FabLab and Satbayev University. The production emphasized the university's special mission – to combine technology and humanitarian knowledge, past and future, forming not only professionals, but also a culturally intelligent generation of engineers who are able to carefully preserve the heritage and at the same time create new meanings for evolving the society.
