Leaders of sustainable development: Satbayev University awarded Future 17 program participants and presented innovative projects

Satbayev University hosted an award ceremony for students and mentors who have successfully completed the international degree program Future 17. The event not only summed up the work of interdisciplinary teams, but also became a platform for transferring the experience between generations of participants.

Continuity of experience and real-world cases. The ceremony’s special moment was the presentation of the graduates’ projects of previous stages to the program’s current participants. Skilled attendees shared their best practices, demonstrating how theoretical knowledge about UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is being transformed into viable social and technological solutions.

One of the most significant examples was Daria Geker's project "BRIDGE: The Intergenerational Knowledge Exchange Ecosystem". The given project is a human-centered platform designed to bridge the digital divide and strengthen social ties between generations. Daria’s project demonstrates an integrated approach to achieving several global goals:

  • SDG 3 (Good health and well-being): active struggle against social isolation and cognitive decline in the elderly through mental interaction.
  • SDG 4 (Quality education): promoting the idea of lifelong learning, where the older generation acts as mentors, passing on the unique experience to youth.
  • SDG 10 (Reducing the inequality): eliminating the ageism by recognizing the value of each age group's contribution to society.

New opportunities for students The Future 17 program continues to integrate into University’s academic environment. An important innovation of the current year is that students of the new stream can receive study credits for certificates confirming the successful completion of the program. This decision highlights the high educational value of the project and the recognition of competencies gained through international teamwork.

Recognition of achievements. During the ceremony, participants received international certificates and memorable gifts. The program, implemented in partnership with international experts, allows Satbayev University students to evolve critical thinking and systemic problem solving skills in a multicultural environment.
