Lecture by Sava Jovic "Experience of the Portuguese Bureau in Kazakhstan"

The Department of Architecture at Satbayev University hosted a lecture by Sava Jović, the head of the Kazakhstan office of the international architectural firm “Saraiva + Associados”. The speaker shared the company’s history, from its founding in 1996 in Lisbon by architect Miguel Saraiva as a small firm to its growth into a major international bureau with projects worldwide.

During the lecture, Sava Jović discussed the firm’s projects in Kazakhstan, particularly the entrance pavilions of the Botanical Garden in Almaty and the head office of ForteBank in Astana. He elaborated on the key principles and design techniques used by the company, as well as the nuances of working with clients and partners.

Special attention was given to opportunities for Satbayev University students. The speaker discussed internship and employment prospects, emphasizing the company’s interest in attracting young professionals. The lecture sparked great interest among students, many of whom asked questions about career growth and future prospects in the field of architecture.

At the conclusion of the event, Sava Jović donated valuable books featuring “Saraiva + Associados” projects to the department’s library. These books will serve as an important methodological resource for academic and diploma projects.

“Saraiva + Associados” has been actively operating in Kazakhstan since 2012, implementing significant architectural projects and contributing to the development of the local architectural community.

This lecture provided an excellent opportunity for students to gain deeper insight into global architectural practices and explore career prospects in an international setting.
