Satbayev University discussed the draft of the new Constitution and called on students to participate in the referendum
Satbayev University hosted a meeting of Bir Tolqynda dialogue platform under AMANAT party on "For the People's Constitution of the Fair and Progressive Kazakhstan" topic. The meeting was attended by representatives of political parties, members of Parliament and the university administration. The main topic of discussion was the draft of the new Constitution and the upcoming referendum. The deputies told the students about various aspects of the new Constitution, what the changes in it mean, and how the country's life will change after the adoption of the new Basic Law.
The dialogue with the youth on constitutional reform and the future of Kazakhstan was led by Satbayev University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev, and a member of Parliament, member of Committee for ecology and nature management, Sergey Ponomarev, who drew the students' attention to the fact that the reform is aimed at improving the effectiveness of public administration and strengthening national security. Among the main changes are the introduction of the vice–presidency with an emphasis on international politics, the transition to a unicameral parliament based on party lists, changes in language policy, the right to work, guarantees for the protection of personal data and digital rights of citizens.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the project strengthens the state's responsibility to citizens, enshrines the right to work, expands guarantees of judicial protection and clarifies the balance between freedom of speech and protection of personal honor and dignity. The participants noted that the new version reinforces the priority of national legislation and reflects the course towards strengthening sovereignty.
Meiram Begentayev noted the importance of discussing the Constitution in the academic environment. He stressed that the university, as the country's leading technical research center, is shaping a new generation of engineers and managers who will have to live and work in an updated legal system. "Constitution is the foundation on which the entire legislative framework of the country is built. It is important not only to vote, but also to study the proposed changes consciously," he said.
The meeting was part of a broad educational effort aimed at creating a legal culture and increasing the involvement of young people in socio-political processes. For Satbayev University, which has been training the technical intelligentsia of Kazakhstan for more than 90 years and consistently develops the mission of "Science and education for the benefit of people," such discussions are an important component of educating the responsible and active citizens.
