Satbayev University discussed the transformation of Kazakhstan's industry in the paradigm of sustainable development
Satbayev University hosted a round table on "Transformation of domestic industrial enterprises in the paradigm of sustainable development" topic, organized by University’s Council of Young Scientists in cooperation with Toraigyrov University. The event was aimed at promoting the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in particular, "Industrialization, innovation and infrastructure" and "Responsible consumption and production", which underpin Kazakhstan's transition to the sustainable economy.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the implementation of ESG approaches in industry, the prospects for green financing and the role of innovation in increasing the environmental and social responsibility of enterprises. Special attention was paid to the need to integrate international sustainable development practices into domestic industries and to develop long-term strategies to reduce the carbon footprint.
"Currently, we’re facing a new historical challenge – not just to develop industry, but to make it sustainable, resource-efficient and environmentally friendly," said Nazim Zhunusbekova, Round table moderator, associate professor and deputy director of Satbayev University Project Management Institute. "Our university is already demonstrating the concrete results: we are not only exploring water-saving technologies and chemical processes from the sustainable development perspective, but also shaping future scientists and managers into new thinking – responsible, environmentally friendly, and based on scientific evidence."
Following the meeting, the participants proposed strengthening cooperation between universities and industrial enterprises, evolving the degree programs on sustainable development and expanding the research activities in the field of ESG transformation. Satbayev University confirmed its readiness to become a center of expertise and a platform for developing the practical solutions aimed at building a sustainable and technological future for the country.
