Satbayev University has united the country’s best students at the Olympiad in mechanical engineering

There was held XVIII Republican Student Subject Olympiad in the mechanical engineering sphere at Satbayev University, bringing together students from Kazakhstan’s different regions representing the country's leading technical universities at the given intellectual competition. Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Saule Sherubay and Energy and Mechanical Engineering Institute’s director Kassym Yelemessov made welcoming remarks at the opening, emphasizing the importance of such events for evolving the engineering education, and qualified specialists training.

Olympiad covered key disciplines of mechanical engineering, including the technological processes of machine-building production, the basics of design and machine parts. Contest was divided into two stages: in the first, students solved tests, in the second they proceeded to complex tasks with complex calculations of technological processes. This is a real intellectual challenge, but the students have coped with it. The first place was taken by Maksat Nurslyamov from Shakarim University, and the second place was shared by Haisha Serikbol from Almaty Technological University and Beksultan Uali from M.O. Auezov South Kazakhstan Research University.

As noted by associate professor of “Mechanical Engineering” department Assemgul Uderbayeva, the students showed independence, a deep understanding of professional tasks and willingness to work in a team. She stressed that participation in the Olympiad gave them valuable experience, helped them to master new technologies and provided the basis for successful professional growth.

Mechanical engineering remains one of the basic branches of industrial development in Kazakhstan, determining the level of technological independence and competitiveness of the country. Training of strong engineers directly affects the evolvement of industry, innovation and sustainable economic growth. Olympiad in mechanical engineering has become an important platform for University to share experiences and develop engineering thinking. Through such projects, Satbayev University contributes to the achievement of sustainable development goals, including quality education, industrialization and the advancement of innovative infrastructure, shaping the engineering industry’s future in Central Asia.
