Satbayev University hosted the International Architectural Forum “MoveScape Central Asia/Almaty”
On October 18-19, 2025, the International Forum “MoveScape Central Asia/Almaty”, dedicated to architecture, investments and standards of urban development, was held at Satbayev University and the “Almatygenplan” Research Institute.
The event brought together leading experts from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Russia, becoming a key platform for discussing current challenges and prospects of urbanism in Central Asia.
As the country’s leading technical university, Satbayev University has provided a platform for professional dialogue, demonstrating its strategic mission to develop innovative approaches in architecture, urban planning and digital technologies.
The Forum has become part of the University's long-term program to integrate science, education and business to create sustainable urban ecosystems.
The forum program included:
- 8 panel discussions with the participation of leading experts;
- Networking sessions for sharing experiences and establishing partnerships;
- A round table at which a manifesto of the professional community was prepared for city administrations.
During the forum, key issues defining the future of urban spaces were discussed:
- Green and energy-efficient architecture: transition to sustainable technologies and reduction of carbon footprint;
- urbanism and urban environment design: creating comfortable and aesthetic spaces;
- Barrier-free and inclusive environment: accessible to all categories of the population;
- Unified design area code: harmonization of visual identity;
- new approaches in the formation of creative industry centers in Kazakhstan;
- Landscape architecture and ecology: integration of natural elements into the urban fabric;
- Social sustainability and citizen participation: involving residents in planning processes;
- normative and urban planning regulation: improvement of standards and rules.
The “MoveScape Central Asia/Almaty” Forum has become an important step towards the formation of sustainable, technological and comfortable urban spaces that meet modern environmental and social standards.
The event resulted in the strengthening of professional ties, the exchange of experience and the development of joint approaches to urban development in the post-Soviet space.
