Satbayev University opened FOTIMA Research Laboratory on the Day of higher education workers

On the Day of higher education workers and Founding Day of PRC, Satbayev University hosted the grand opening of the new FOTIMA research laboratory for sensor technologies. The given project was the result of the strategic partnership with Chinese colleagues and symbolically coincided with the professional holiday of teachers and scientists, emphasizing the key role of education and science in the sustainable development of the country.

Laboratory of the Future

The new FOTIMA laboratory will become a modern scientific center for research and development in the field of sensor technologies in demand in the energy sector, ecology, mechanical engineering, industry and smart cities. Here, students and young researchers will be able to work on applied projects that directly address the challenges of XXI century.

 "Today, the energy sector and industry are facing the global challenges - the transition to renewable energy sources, reducing the carbon footprint and the need to improve energy efficiency. They can only be answered through innovation and education of a new generation of engineers. FOTIMA laboratory is our contribution to forming the specialists capable of creating the future’s technologies," said Mr. Kuldeyev Ye.I., Vice Rector for Science and Corporate Development at Satbayev University.

The opening of the laboratory strengthens Satbayev University's position in QS Sustainability Rankings and confirms its role as a leading university in Central Asia, ready to offer the world applied solutions in the field of sustainable development and ESG.

The project was implemented with the active participation of Project Office for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Satbayev University Energy department, Chinese partners and the student community.
