Satbayev University strengthens regional cooperation in the field of sustainable development: training on ESG approaches was held in Aktobe

Satbayev University in may  conducted a three-day training for entrepreneurs and managers in Aktobe, focused on the topic "Sustainable development, ESG and Compliance". The event became part of the university's systematic work to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the regions of Kazakhstan.

The program brought together representatives of small and medium—sized businesses from key industries, from the oil and gas and mining industries to IT, finance and consumer services. Participants were trained in modern standards of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG), studied international and Kazakhstani experience in implementing compliance culture, and developed leadership competencies in the field of sustainable management.

Special attention was paid to practical cases adapted to the specifics of the region. Aktobe, as a center of industrial growth, turned out to be a strategically important platform for building local ESG initiatives.

"Our goal is not just to teach, but to form regional centers of meanings and sustainable solutions. Aktobe, with its industrial potential and social challenges, is a strategically important point for the development of ESG approaches," said Rustam Akhmetov, Manager of the SDG Project Office at Satbayev University.

Satbayev University is the country's leading technical university, actively developing areas of green engineering, digitalization and energy efficiency. Through its own SDG Project Office, the university integrates sustainable practices into education, science, management processes, and student initiatives. The arsenal includes a reengineering laboratory, the SU Solutions application, ESG modules in training courses and competitions for sustainable engineering solutions.

The training conducted in Aktobe was another step towards creating a network of regional leaders of sustainable development who are able to adapt global standards to local conditions.
