Satbayev University students planted trees in honor of Nauryz and launched a sustainable development initiative
There was held an ecological tree planting campaign dedicated to the celebration of Naury at Satbayev University. The event brought together students of the new initiative organization SDG Satbayev, aimed at promoting the principles of sustainable development and environmental responsibility.
The action took place on the university campus, where students not only contributed to landscaping, but also supported the tradition of landscaping during the spring renovation. The organizer of the event, Madina Balgabayeva, noted that the creation of the student community was a response to the request of active youth interested in global change.:
"We have brought together initiative students who care about the future of not only our country, but also the world as a whole. It is important for us to combine national traditions with global trends of sustainable development. By planting trees, we are contributing to improving the environmental situation in Almaty and hope that the given initiatives will grow with our community."
Currently, about 70 students representing all university institutes have already joined SDG Satbayev. The organization aims to develop environmental, educational and social projects, as well as to involve students in the international sustainable development agenda. The campaign was supported by Technical and Executive Business School, a young business school organized on the basis of Satbayev University for entrepreneurs and managers focused on leadership in technology and business.
The action was the first step in executing the large-scale student initiative aimed at the formation of an ecological culture and an active civic position among young people. The implementation of such initiatives in the long term allows not only to form an ecological culture among students, but also to make a practical contribution to solving urgent problems for Almaty related to air quality and sustainable development of the urban environment. The project is directly related to the Goals of Sustainable Development, in particular, the formation of sustainable cities and development of quality education through the involvement of young people in solving environmental issues.
