Special economic zones of Kazakhstan will become technological hubs with Satbayev University's support
Satbayev University and Kazakhstan Association of free economic zones have signed a framework agreement on strategic partnership, opening a new stage in evolving Kazakhstan's industrial policy. The document signed by Association’s Chairman Yerbol Bukharbayev and Satbayev University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev became an important step towards modernizing the special economic zones and strengthening the science-production-investment link.
Today, enterprises of metallurgy and mechanical engineering, chemical and petrochemical industries, production of building materials, as well as high-tech areas, including electronics and instrumentation, are developing in the territories of special economic zones of Kazakhstan. As part of the new partnership, Satbayev University will become a center of engineering expertise for these enterprises, providing research, development and adaptation of new solutions, and training, which will help build a new generation of industrial infrastructure and ensure the production of competitive products with export potential.
When discussing future cooperation, the parties agreed that modern production cannot be developed without the systemic integration of science, since any new technological solutions require professional expertise, assessment of the impact on the environment, human health, logistics and economic efficiency.
- It is fundamental for us to integrate our expertise into the economy and industry, - Meiram Begentayev said at the meeting. - And this happens most effectively when specific applied tasks are set for scientists. In this case, through partnership with the university, enterprises gain access to a global research network that can provide sustainable and competitive solutions according to international standards.
The agreement was signed in the context of the instructions of Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on improving the effectiveness of special economic zones and their transformation into modern hubs of industrial and technological growth. For Satbayev University, the agreement strengthens University's role as a center for applied science and industrial solutions, as well as strengthens Kazakhstan's position as a country focused on industrialization, innovation and global competitiveness.
