Technologies for good: the final of the social Makaton "TOM: Kazakhstan – 2025" will be held at Satbayev University

We’re inviting you to the final of "TOM: Kazakhstan - 2025" unique social hackathon, which will be held at Satbayev University on May 26. This is a 72-hour marathon, where students, teachers and specialists create prototypes that facilitate the life and rehabilitation of people with disabilities. Makaton format allows participants to interact directly with people with disabilities in order to better understand their needs and offer effective solutions. The given event brings together inventors, engineers, specialists and simply caring people who are ready to develop technologies that can change the lives of people with disabilities.

At the second stage, seven teams from Almaty and Shymkent will work on the following projects:

  • Improvement of rehabilitation vehicles for children with ICP.
  • Upgrade of the verticalizer.
  • Exercise bike with gamification elements to strengthen the musculoskeletal system.
  • Adaptive walkers.
  • Smart walker for rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy.
  • Adaptive chair with wheelchair functions for the rehabilitation center.
  • Interactive walker for rehabilitation of a child with ICP.

“TOM: Almaty” project is not only about technology, but also about humanity, creativity and the power of joint efforts. This is an example of how combining the knowledge, experience, and a sincere desire to help can change the world for the better.

The project was organized by ALE “Association for the development of social technologies” and Satbayev University, co-organized by Dos Ortopedia and RPO “Union of parents of special children” with the support of Eurasian Resources Group (ERG).
