Well-deserved recognition: Alexey Abilov received a high award for his contribution to architectural science and education

At Satbayev University, Professor of the T.K. Basenov Institute of Architecture and Construction, Doctor of Architecture Alexey Abilov was recently awarded the medal of the National Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Kazakhstan “Honoured Worker of Higher Education of Kazakhstan”. This award was a well-deserved recognition of his many years of work, outstanding contribution to the development of architectural and urban planning science and education, as well as impeccable dedication to the profession.

The life and scientific and pedagogical activity of Alexey Zhailkhanovich Abilov are inextricably linked with the university and the formation of architectural education in Kazakhstan. His total work experience is 55 years, of which he devoted 27 years to KazPTI–KazNTU–KAZNIT named after K.I. Satpayev. Over the years, the professor has trained a whole galaxy of specialists who today successfully work in design institutes, architectural bureaus and educational institutions of the country. Dozens of scientific studies, including doctoral and PhD theses, were developed and defended under his leadership.

Professor Abilov is the author of more than 180 scientific papers, including fundamental monographs on urban planning and sustainable settlement development, textbooks on architectural composition and design. His scientific developments find practical application in real projects and form the basis of the modern architectural school of Kazakhstan.

The achievements of the scientist are highly appreciated in the international arena. He has lectured at universities in the USA, Great Britain and Italy, spoke at the World Congress of the International Union of Architects, and this year, at the invitation of the Center for Russian, Caucasian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies (CERCES), presented Kazakhstan's scientific experience at an international seminar in Paris. His report became an important contribution to the development of international scientific dialogue and the strengthening of academic ties between Satbayev University and foreign research centers.

Over the years, the professor has been awarded government and departmental awards, including jubilee medals “20 years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan” and “25 years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, badges “Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, “Honorary Architect of Kazakhstan”, medals named after T.K. Basenov and M.M. Mendikulov, as well as the Gold Medal of Satbayev University.
