“The Abc of safety” unites MES, DES and students of Satbayev University

There was held "The Abc of safety" large-scale event at Satbayev University, bringing together delegations of RK MES and DES from various regions and cities of Kazakhstan, as well as rescuers of Republican operational rescue squad of RK MES and university students. The event format empowered combining the theory and practice, focusing on the interactive interlinkage of rescuers with students.

During the meeting at the university, elements of earthquake rescue operations were demonstrated. One of them was dedicated to the evacuation of a conditional victim from the second floor of the building. Another element involved searching for a person under the rubble of a destroyed building with the participation of a service dog. Algorithms for first aid were also shown and an explanatory lecture was given on the behavior rules during an earthquake.

The site of the country's first technical university was not chosen by chance.  University is actively developing the field of civil protection, has a specialized study room and a logistical base for conducting such training. That is why Almaty’s Emergency Situations Department has identified Satbayev University as one of the key venues for the republican action. The delegation head, senior officer of Civil Defense Committee and military units of RK MES, major Madat Mussauly, stressed the importance of cooperation with University:

 "Thank you for providing a platform and support in organizing the safety lesson. Owing to you, the event was productive and brought useful knowledge and practical skills to the participants," he said.

In line with him, the main goal of the campaign is to convey to every listener the safety measures and rules of action in an earthquake case. Special attention was paid to improving the safety culture among young people, since it is students who will become decision-makers in various economy sectors in the future.

The holding of "The ABC of safety" at Satbayev University was another confirmation of University's systematic work to strengthen the collaboration with government agencies and develop a safety culture. University, which implements “Science and education for the benefit of people" mission, consistently creates an environment in which knowledge is supported by practical skills, and security becomes an integral part of the educational process.
