Auditorium named after academician Shakhmardan Yessenov was opened at Satbayev University

The named auditorium dedicated to the outstanding scientist, organizer of science, statesman and public figure Shakhmardan Yessenov was opened at Satbayev University. The grand opening of the auditorium was timed to coincide with 98^th anniversary of the academician's birth and became a landmark event for the university and its students.

Auditorium was created as a place where students can gain knowledge in the comfortable environment, apply the latest multimedia technologies for lectures, presentations and joint projects. Auditorium is equipped with ergonomic furniture, and its design reflects the chronology of the life and achievements of Shakhmardan Yessenov that turns the educational process into a lively dialogue with the history of science in Kazakhstan.

Auditorium was opened with the support of Shakhmardan Yessenov Foundation and its founder Galimzhan Yessenov, the scientist’s grandson. The author of the inspiring, modern auditorium space was the famous Kazakhstani architect and urbanist Chingiz Batyrbekov.

At the auditorium opening, in his speech Galimzhan Yessenov stressed that his team tried to make the office comfortable, noting that the opening of the auditorium at the first technical University of Kazakhstan is a special event for his family:

– Satbayev University played a key role in my grandfather's life. It was here that his path began. It was here that academician Kanysh Satpayev saw potential in him, becoming his mentor. I believe that the current students of this university represent the human potential that will determine our country’s future. And may this audience become a place of strength, inspiration, and growth. Let ideas be born here that will change industries and destinies. Let everyone who comes here feel the spirit of a researcher, an innovator, a man who sincerely loved his country and believed in its future.

Kazakh businessman and philanthropist Galimzhan Yessenov conducts many charitable projects, but the main one remains the foundation devoted to the memory of his grandfather - the outstanding scientist Shakhmardan Yessenov. His scientific discoveries and government activities became the basis for evolving the national economy and science. Thanks to the activity of the given remarkable geologist, the largest deposits of oil, gas, copper, etc. were discovered and developed. - Zhezkazgan, Zhanaozen, Karazhanbas, Zhetybai, Kalamkas, Bozashi and others, while the Mangyshlak peninsula remained part of Kazakhstan.

For many years, the scientist held such positions as Minister of Geology of the Kazakh SSR, Deputy Chairman of Kazakhstan Council of Ministers, academician and President of Kazakhstan Academy of Sciences. He was awarded the Lenin and State Prizes for his work. Foundation dedicated to his name continues his life's work, developing Kazakhstan's intellectual potential through grant programs.

Satbayev University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev emphasized that for Satbayev University, the opening of the auditorium named after this great scientist carries a special meaning:

– The name of Shakhmardan Yessenov occupies a special place in the history of the first Kazakh Polytech. His life is a vivid example of service to Motherland. I am sure that it is here, in the high-tech auditorium of Shakhmardan Yessenov, that a new generation of scientists will appear, worthy followers of the work of the great statesman and scientist.

The opening of Shakhmardan Yessenov Auditorium has become a symbol of generational continuity and another step by Satbayev University towards creating the new scientific and engineering leadership in Kazakhstan.
