From schoolchildren to young engineers: Satbayev University hosted the final stage of "Kazakhstan Smart Space 2026" international competition

Satbayev University in Almaty hosted a major international scientific and technical event that brought together young scientists, engineers and students - the final stage of V anniversary  "Kazakhstan Smart Space 2026" contest. Within three days, the university's site became a center of attraction for more than 80 teams from Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan, who presented innovative projects in space technology, engineering and IT spheres.

Within the framework of the competition, participants demonstrated not just ideas, but real developments – mockups, working models, prototypes and scientific research aimed at solving urgent technological problems. Projects covered 12 thematic areas and were developed using modern design and business modeling tools, including the Lean Canvas approach. Each team defended their solutions before an expert jury, proving their practical significance, innovation and potential for implementation.

Program of the event was rich and included not only competitive tests, but also a number of significant scientific and educational events. Within the framework of “Kazakhstan Smart Space 2026”, there were held an expert round table with international participation, First Eurasian forum of technological entrepreneurship, and IV International space conference. Special importance was attached to the competition by its integration into “Satbayev Readings” program, as well as the holding of events in line with UN "Space 2030: space as an engine of sustainable development" strategy.

For the participants, the competition provided not only a dynamic environment for professional growth, but also a platform for technological leisure. Along with projects in the field of space engineering, artificial intelligence and environmental monitoring, the program included the Eurasian Drone Racing Tournament, where participants were able to demonstrate reaction speed, accuracy and drone control skills. The winners received diplomas, medals and special prizes, as well as the opportunity to visit Baikonur spaceport, which became an additional incentive for their further professional and scientific growth.

"Kazakhstan Smart Space 2026" confirmed the role of Satbayev University as a leading platform for evolving the scientific and technical potential of young people and strengthening international cooperation. It contributes to the development of high-tech industries and supports innovation, which directly affects the sustainable development of Kazakhstan and Central Asia and meets key Sustainable Development Goals, including quality education, industrialization and innovation. It is on such platforms that a generation is being formed that will create the technological future of the country and the region.
