Satbayev University hosted the fourth "Young Satbayev" intellectual competition, which brought together talented high school students from all over Kazakhstan. The final stage of the contest was held at the university and gathered the top ten participants selected from more than 600 applications. The winner was Raikhan Yeschanova from Martuk village, Aktobe region, who received a grant from Rector to study at Satbayev University.
This year, in the final, the students not only answered questions about the history of Kazakhstan and the life of Kanysh Satbayev, but also conducted an experiment related to a real scientific project. Gulzat Aitkaliyeva, associate professor of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering Department, said that the students analyzed waste from metallurgical production:
- This year, the final task was the analysis of industrial waste, - she said. - We showed the students that industrial waste can be recycled and used in other industries. This allowed the finalists not only to demonstrate their skills, but also to gain a better understanding of how sustainability technologies work.
This year, the organizers received applications not only from cities, but also from rural areas of Kazakhstan. The first and second stages were held in the online format and included 60 questions in physics, chemistry and mathematics. The participants who successfully overcame these challenges met in the final. The students spent their time during the holidays, made efforts and showed a high level of knowledge.
- It is important for schoolchildren, - Gulzat Slyashevna shared. - We see how they are trying, getting prepared, and this motivates us, the organizers. Every time I cheer and worry for all the participants, I hope that they will be able to answer properly and show their knowledge.
The main prize for the winner was an educational grant for undergraduate studies at Satbayev University. Symbat Bakhyt from Konayev and Bekzat Nurbolatuly from Karagandy, who took second and third places, received valuable gifts. The organizers expressed the hope that participation in the competition would help the children achieve great success in the future and become part of the country's technical elite.
