Conference, dedicated to World Metrology Day entitled "Metrology in ensuring the UN sustainable development goals", was held at Satbayev University. Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Raissa Uskenbayeva and “KazStandard” branch’s director Dauren Sarsenbayev opened the conference. Conference included a plenary session and panel sessions on water resources management.

Participants discussed the role of metrology in ensuring the sustainable development and growth of the system of standardization, certification and metrology in Kazakhstan and the prospects for this process. Satbayev University’s teachers and students, representatives of government agencies and commercial enterprises participated in the given event.

Participants discussed the critical role of metrology in achieving the sustainable development goals, as accurate measurements make it possible to track changes in key indicators related to SDGs, such as water quality, clean air, energy efficiency and agricultural productivity. This helps in making the informed decisions and evaluating the effectiveness of various initiatives. In addition, metrology is needed to develop new technologies and products that can contribute to sustainable development, such as more energy efficient devices, more accurate irrigation systems and cleaner industrial processes.

The event became a significant platform for exchanging the experience and knowledge in metrology sphere, as well as for discussing the topical issues of this industry’s evolvement in Kazakhstan. All participants of the conference highly appreciated its level of organization and content.
