Kazakh-German Business Forum has become a platform for signing the cooperation agreement between Satbayev University and Siemens
On June 20, 2023, Rector of Satbayev University Meiram Begentayev took part in Kazakh-German Business Forum in Astana, which was held as part of the official visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Forum was dedicated to the prospects of strengthening the Kazakh-German strategic partnership with an emphasis on expanding the cooperation in economic, logistics and energy spheres. President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev delivered a welcoming speech in the event.
- I have a dream to create a research hub in Central Asia and for German universities to be part of this hub. I appreciate German investment companies’ active participation. “Kazakhstan will maintain favorable conditions for the further German presence," he said.
Satbayev University took the first step in developing the collaboration with the German side directly during the Forum by signing an agreement of intent on cooperation in additive technologies sphere with Siemens. The signing ceremony was attended by Rector of Satbayev University Meiram Begentayev and Director of Siemens Kazakhstan Diyas Assanov. The agreement opens up many mutually beneficial opportunities for the two sides in the field of education, training and advanced training of employees, scientific research and R&D projects in additive technologies sphere. For Satbayev University, the given agreement will be another initiative in this direction.
In general, Kazakh-German Business Forum showed our country’s priorities in cooperation with Germany, in particular in the field of higher education and industrial and innovative development. The participants discussed upcoming initiatives in the field of mechanical engineering, transport, logistics, energy and raw materials. Among Forum participants there were Minister of RK Industry and Infrastructure Development Marat Karabayev, State Secretary of Federal Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection of Germany Udo Philip, Board Chairman of “Samruk-Kazyna” Zhakupov Nurlan, Vice President of “Siemens AG” Patricia Newmann and other heads of leading companies of the two countries.
Within the framework of Frank-Walter Steinmeier's visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Symposium of Rectors of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Federal Republic of Germany was held as well, with "On bilateral cooperation with Germany in higher education sphere" open speech by Vice Minister of Higher Education and Science Kuanysh Yergaliyev.
Meiram Begentayev made a presentation at Symposium of Rectors on the prospects of bilateral cooperation in higher technical education sphere. In his speech, he noted that both countries are interested in exchanging experience on advancing the innovative and industrial sectors and it is difficult to overestimate the role of higher technical education in the given process.
