Kazakh universities have strengthened their positions in QS World University Rankings 2026

A solemn ceremony of awarding the certificates confirming Kazakhstani universities’ achievements in International QS World University Rankings was held at Kazakh National Medical University named after S. Asfendiyarov (KazNMU). The given event has become an important milestone in evolving the country's education and science system.
The increase in the international reputation of education and scientific research indicates the growth of Kazakhstan's intellectual potential. In this regard, RK Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayassat Nurbek noted:
"The growth of the international authority of science and education is the key to the country’s growth. The growing positions of Kazakhstani universities in the QS ranking open up new opportunities for international cooperation. This is the result of our joint work and the key to great future achievements."
In turn, Deputy Akim of Almaty Azamat Kaldybekov stressed:
"Of the 20 universities in Kazakhstan included in the QS ranking, nine are located in Almaty. This once again confirms that our city is a center of education and youth. Such achievements make a great contribution to academic cooperation evolvement, expansion of scientific research and the strengthening of international trust. I believe that this is not only a reason for pride, but also the beginning of further improvement of the education system and the achievement of new leadership frontiers."
QS 2026 ranking includes a total of 20 universities in Kazakhstan. Satbayev University, which took 331 places, confirmed the competitiveness of the national system of technical education at the global level.
As part of the award ceremony, the agreement was signed on the further development of partnership between “Bilim Damu” consortium and QS rating agency. The given collaboration will allow Kazakh universities to expand their participation in modern scientific projects and innovations, as well as attract foreign students and scientists.
Hence, Kazakhstan will continue to follow a strategic course towards becoming a regional hub in the education and science sphere, conquering new heights.
