On Science Day, Satbayev University introduced foreign students to Kazakh culture
Within the framework of Science Day, in parallel with "Artificial Intelligence in Engineering and Production Systems" international conference Satbayev University celebrated Nauryz Meiramy. University campus was filled with the sounds of dombra, dancing and songs. The holiday brought together students, teachers and guests in the atmosphere of the spring steppe, Kazakh history and national traditions.
The celebration began with a theatrical production featuring traditional characters that revived ancient rituals and family values. After the performance, the song "Nauryz" was played, and then the popular university ensemble Meir Band performed as well.
Celebrating the Nauryz Meiramy was held in the format of an ethno-festival. National Kazakh games and a playground with traditional archery were popular. Art lovers could watch artists create paintings right in front of the public. Craftsmen worked alongside the artists: potters sculpted vases, tanners made souvenirs, and a jeweler manually showed the technique of coinage. Foreign students and teachers took part in the celebration: they presented the national clothes and food of their countries, and also played the Kazakh togyz kumalak game.
A highlight of the holiday was the performance of Ayazhan Daniyarkyzy, a student of Satbayev University, who demonstrated the art of national hunting with a hunting bird and welcomed the special guest of the event, Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayassat Nurbek. As a sign of respect and continuity of generations, Minister received a portrait of Kanysh Satbayev, created in honor of 126th anniversary of the great scientist.
Science and tradition can not only coexist together, but also inspire each other. Nauryz at the university has become a symbol of the connection between different cultures and the future, which begins here and now.
