Republican interuniversity Olympiad for the future mining engineers has started at Satbayev University
On the eve of May holidays, the second stage of Republican Subject Olympiad in "Fundamentals of Mining Production", "Rock Physics" and "Mining Technology" disciplines was held at Satbayev University.
The best students from 12 universities and institutes of the republic studying in «Mining Engineering" specialty came to Olympiad to solve problems and test their knowledge as well as achievements.
Olympiad was opened by University’s Vice-rector for Academic Affairs Bakhyt Zhautikov, who gave the floor to Polytech’s honorary Rector, the famous mining engineer, academician Bayan Rakishev, who addressed the participants with the welcoming speech and wished them success in their chosen specialty.
Kanai Rysbekov, Director of O.A. Baikonurov Mining and Metallurgical Institute, and Manarbek Sandibekov, Professor of Mining Department, addressed the students. Then University tour was organized. The guests of Polytech were able to see how mining training is conducted at Satbayev University, visited University’s mineralogical museum.
After the break, Olympiad itself began, including tests in Olympiad disciplines and graphic works. The results were evaluated by professors, university teachers and representatives of production.
In total, 28 people from Zhezkazgan, Ekibastuz, Oskemen, Kokshetau, Aktobe, Karagandy, Taraz, Rudny, Almaty and Kyzylorda took part in Olympiad. According to hard struggle results, six people became winners:
1st place - Islam Imashev.
2nd place - Anara Itessova and Azat Kappassov.
3rd place - Shynbolat Yedige, Mergen Zhazitov, Raiymbek Turysbekov.
The winners received cash certificates as well as diplomas. Congratulations!
