Results of the II Round of the XVII Republican Student Olympiad Educational Program "Chemical Technology of Organic Substances

On April 25, 2025, the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Satbayev University successfully hosted the II Round of the XVII Republican Student Olympiad for the educational program "Chemical Technology of Organic Substances" within the framework of the State Educational Program "V060 – Chemical Engineering and Processes."

The Olympiad gathered 8 teams from 7 leading universities of Kazakhstan, bringing together 27 students from 3rd and 4th years, who had successfully passed the internal university selection stages.

The competition was held offline in Kazakh and Russian languages and consisted of two stages:

• First Round – a written test assessing the students' theoretical knowledge in core disciplines;
• Second Round – debates aimed at developing scientific argumentation, critical thinking, and public speaking skills.

The assignments covered a wide range of pressing topics, including non-traditional methods for chemical reaction activation, nanotoxicology, biodegradable polymers, and heavy oil residue processing technologies.

Based on the results of both rounds, the winners were determined:

• Individual Winners – students who achieved the highest scores in the written round;
• Team Winners – teams that accumulated the highest combined scores across both rounds.
