The parties discussed the possibility of joint implementation of projects in the environmental direction, among which an important place is given to the principles of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance — Ecology, Society and Management). This is a new approach to evaluating the companies that fully complies with UN principles of sustainable development and takes into account not only financial indicators, but also environmental impact, social responsibility and quality of management. After the discussion, the parties made the following decisions:

  1. They have agreed to exchange information on the Caspian Sea in order to continue joint research and work in the given area.
  2. They agreed on the exchange of information on the availability of certifications and accreditations of laboratories, as well as the list of equipment necessary for effective work on research.
  3. They launched the development of a mechanism for joint publications in highly rated journals to share results and achievements with the scientific community.
  4. They considered the possibility of holding a Round table/foresight with the participation of foreign partners to discuss issues related to the Caspian Sea.
  5. They have planned trainings and seminars on ESG principles for employees to develop their skills and knowledge in sustainable development field.
  6. They have agreed to scale courses and educational programs based on ESG principles to other universities. This will open up new horizons for students and help them get a quality education in the field of sustainable development.
  7. They also agreed to develop a technical specification for the project "Endemics of the Republic of Kazakhstan" in order to study and preserve the unique species of flora and fauna of our country.

We are looking forward to further cooperation with Central Asian Institute of Environmental Studies and are confident that our partnership will bring many positive results for our students, scientists as well as the whole society.
