Satbayev University and Halyk Foundation have celebrated International Day of Charity
"On Charity in Kazakhstan: successes, problems and solutions" round table was held at Satbayev University, dedicated to International Day of Charity, and the given event was organized jointly with “Halyk” Charity Foundation. A social investor, eco-activist, public figure Zhanna Nurseitova acted as a moderator. Round table was attended by representatives of the country's leading charitable foundations, who shared their experience and the results of their work, discussed the principal issues related to current problems and assistance opportunities, and showed the new ways of working together as well.
The meeting was opened by Nariman Abilshaykov, managing director of “Halyk” Charitable Foundation, who spoke about the situation with charity in Kazakhstan and the significance of this day.
- Kazakhstanis perceive charity as a financial assistance to those in need, Nariman Baktybayevich said in his speech. - We can’t say that charity is developed enough in our country.
Besides him, such qualified specialists as President of “Ayala” Foundation Aidan Suleimenova, director of People's Public Fund of Kazakhstan Chingys Baymukhametuly, head of “Meyirim” Volunteer Society Aruzhan Sain and representative of “Nurlan Smagulov” Charitable Foundation Lazzat Alzhanova held a speech at the round table. Gulbara Sultanova, representative of Committee on Civil Society Affairs at Culture and Information Ministry, shared her opinion on the role of the state in supporting the charitable organizations and stressed the importance of interaction between government agencies and civil society.
Saginbek Shunkeyev, director of “Halyk” Charitable Foundation, noted that “Halyk” Foundation’s various social initiatives and projects play an important role in charity sphere in Kazakhstan. In addition to evolving the social society in the country, “Halyk” Foundation also supports the field of sports education, health and sports. Fund’s main goal is to improve the population’s welfare. At the end of the meeting, representatives of the foundation who contributed to the field of charity in the country were awarded.
"This is a very important and necessary initiative for all Kazakhstanis," said Satbayev University's Rector Meiram Begentayev, who, during his work, alloted much time to create a charitable movement in Kazakhstan. The initiative, supported by Satbayev University, will help to form social responsibility and involve more people in good deeds aimed at improving the lives of Kazakhstanis.
