Satbayev University and Lorraine University’s dual degree program will train specialists for “Mirny” wind farm
Satbayev University was visited by French Embassy’s delegation in Kazakhstan, Lorraine University and Total Energies Renewable Kazakhstan, as part of the upcoming launch of the dual degree program between universities in Kazakhstan and France. French Embassy was represented by Higher Education attache Greta Komur-Tilua and international expert Agnes Busse, Lorraine University delegation was headed by vice president Cecile Nouvel, Total Energies Renewable Kazakhstan was represented by head of engineering direction Furkat Khamramkulov.
On the part of Satbayev University, Sapar Shalabayev, Vice-rector for Administrative, Social and Educational Work, Zhuldyz Kalpeyeva, Vice-Provost for Academic Development, and representatives of University’s relevant institutes and departments participated.
The given visit was the final point of the dual degree program being developed by two leading universities, funded by Total Energies Renewable Kazakhstan. As part of the previously signed agreement, Satbayev University, commissioned by TotalEnergies, will begin to train up to 14 students annually, who will study in Almaty for the first 3 years, and the 4th year at Lorraine University campus in Metz with internships at TotalEnergies energy enterprises. Upon completion of the training, the engineers will be employed by Total Energies Renewable Kazakhstan to service the wind turbines of Kazakhstan's largest wind farm, “Mirny”, which is capable of meeting the energy needs of about 1 million Kazakhstanis, including those from isolated rural areas.
The key event was the signing of the memorandum of understanding on executinhg the dual degree program in "Power engineering" field. The signing of the document opens up new opportunities for academic exchange, training of specialists and implementation of joint initiatives as well.
