Satbayev University Embraces the World of Four Languages: The Traditional "English Week" Held in a New Format

The traditional Foreign Languages Week has concluded at Satbayev University. This year, "English Week" expanded its scope and, for the first time, was held in a multilingual environment.
Since 2025, university students have had the opportunity to study one of four additional languages—Chinese, Korean, German, and French, alongside the traditional English curriculum. Over the course of two semesters, first-year students acquire a foundational knowledge of their chosen language, which they can later apply when studying abroad as part of a dual-degree program.
From the very first day of Foreign Languages Week, students actively used all four newly introduced languages, showcasing their knowledge in practice. During the opening ceremony, four student groups represented the country of the language they are studying.
Korean is one of the new languages available for study at Satbayev University. The Korean diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan has supported this initiative. A delegation from the mission visited the university and participated in the event. Professor of Philology, Kim Busik, delivered a welcome speech in Korean, expressing his pride that the young generation of students at Kazakhstan’s leading technical university now has the opportunity to study not only English but also Korean, Chinese, and other foreign languages.
As part of the tradition, first-year students actively participated in various projects and competitions, including the theatrical performance contest "Performance Competition," the reading project "Reading Project," the annual video competition "I am the Next Satbayev," and the charity fair "Red Nose Day."
During the closing ceremony, students received certificates of participation and achievement, as well as memorable prizes and gifts.
The Department of Foreign Languages extends its sincere gratitude to all who contributed to this significant celebration of languages!
