Satbayev University has hosted SIOMMS-2025 World Student Olympiad

Students from all over the world gathered at Satbayev University – 6^th World Student Olympiad in the field of theory of mechanisms and machines and mechanics of robots SIOMMS-2025 started here, which is held under the auspices of International Federation of IFToMM and will last until November 28.

Opening the Olympiad, moderator Academician Amandyk Tuleshov stressed that Minister of Science and Higher Education Nurbek Sayassat supported SIOMMS-2025 by sending a congratulatory message to the students and all participants. Sapar Shalabayev, Vice Rector for Administrative, Social and Educative Work at Satbayev University, added that he hopes Satbayev University will become a second home for all participants:

- It is a big part for us to host the Olympiad at our university and see how students from all over the world at our university develop, create new things, and show creativity in engineering, - said Vice-rector.

Olympiad program includes competitive tasks on mechanisms and robotics and guided tours of the scientific laboratories at Satbayev University, as well as special lectures from leading experts of IFToMM Kazakhstan. In two days, students will not only be able to show their knowledge, but also get acquainted with the first technical university of Kazakhstan and the latest achievements in the field of automation.

The event was organized by IFToMM Kazakhstan, Satbayev University and Mechanics and Machine Science Institute named after Academician U.A. Dzholdasbekov with the support of National Academy of Engineering of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Teams from China, Spain, Romania, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan will take part in the Olympiad. Kazakhstan is represented by three universities: Satbayev University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, South Kazakhstan State University, and U.A. Dzholdasbekov Institute of Mechanics and Machine Science.

IFToMM is the largest international engineering federation uniting 45 countries. The organization is engaged in evolving the science about mechanisms, robots, automation systems, promotion of engineering education and the support of young professionals around the world. The holding of SIOMMS-2025 in Almaty highlights Kazakhstan's growing role in the global science and technology agenda and strengthens Satbayev University's position as one of the key centers of engineering education in the region. Olympiad will give students the opportunity to exchange experiences, establish professional contacts and present their scientific ideas internationally.
