Satbayev University has signed a cooperation agreement with Malaysian company producing vertical farms

The cooperation agreement has been signed between Satbayev University and Malaysian company BoomGrow Productions Sdn Bhd, specializing in growing the vegetables due to "green" technologies. The agreement was signed by University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev and CEO of Bloom Grow Murali Krishnamurti.

Before signing the agreement, the parties held a working meeting where they discussed the details and next steps for installing the vertical farms at the university for growing fruit and vegetable crops using hydroponics technology, as well as planned scientific cooperation in the field of innovative technologies for agriculture.

BoomGrow representatives talked about their work and technology, and also showed their vision of future cooperation:

“In Malaysia, we cooperate with five major universities in all areas of medicine and pharmacy. We also work with one of the largest research hospitals in Europe - St. George's Hospital in the UK. So we are interested in conducting the research, in joint publications, in commercial projects and in jointly receiving grants for research in these areas,” Murali Krishnamurti said at the presentation.

The meeting was attended by Raissa Uskenbayeva, University’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, and Samgat Yermekbayev, First Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Strategic Development.

BoomGrow Productions Sdn Bhd is a company established in 2013 as an innovative startup specializing in the production of technologies for growing plants in vertical farms. The result was "precision farming" technology - the creation of a data-driven environment in order to ensure the cultivation of food and its quality 365 days a year. The company's motto "Sustainable Produce, Planet and People" is "Environmentally friendly products, planet and people". In Malaysia, the company works with five major universities and is expanding its presence in other countries as well.
