Satbayev University hosted a meeting of the Association on Architectural and Urban Planning Problems
Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressed the people of Kazakhstan on January 7, 2022, and delivered a reform speech in the Majilis on January 11, 2022. Both performances instilled in us – architects – confidence in the stable future of our Kazakhstan!
The Kazakhstan Academic Center of the International Academy of Architecture MAAM-Eurasia has taken the initiative to create associations of creative organizations of Kazakhstan based on Satbayev University on "Problems and prospects of development of architecture, urban planning and architectural and urban planning education in the Republic of Kazakhstan".
The Association includes KazMAAM-Eurasia, the Union of Architects of Kazakhstan, the Research Design Institute "Astanagenplan", the Research Institute "Almatygeplan", Satbayev University and large design organizations of Nur-Sultan and Almaty.
On January 21, 2022, a meeting of the Association was held in the online format, where architectural and urban planning issues were raised and considered in the Kazakhstan Republic President speech.
The following topical issues were discussed:
1. Determining the direction of development of architecture and urban planning, taking into account the challenges of modernity (including the situation on C-19, the January events in Almaty) and new international approaches to urban development aimed at ensuring the safety and comfort of the population (speaker A.A. Mametov – Director of the Grado design firm, Academician of MAAM, Vice President of KazMAAM-Eurasia);
2. Proposals for the long-term development and renovation of the city of Almaty (speaker Satybaldiev A.O. – author of the general plan of Almaty, Professor MAAM);
3. Proposals for the further construction of light rail transport in the city of Nur-Sultan (speaker Pirozhkov A.V. – Chief architect of NIPI "Astanagenplan" LLP);
4. Proposals to change the regulatory framework of architectural, urban planning and construction activities (speaker A.A. Tatygulov – Acting President of the Union of Architects of the Republic of Kazakhstan, President of the KAZGOR Design Academy, member-cor. MAAM).
The reports aroused great interest among the participants and listeners; a lively discussion took place on each position.
The proposals from the community of architects and urban planners with an active professional position, formulated on these issues, will be sent to the Office of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Committee for Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
