Satbayev University “Institute of Physics and Technology” and National Center for Seismology signed a memorandum to improve the earthquake monitoring

As part of the tasks to improve seismological monitoring and earthquake forecasting set by RK President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Satbayev University “Institute of Physics and Technology” and National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations and Research signed Memorandum of cooperation in evolving the method for highly sensitive laser monitoring of small crustal deformations in seismically active zones.

It is being planned to equip the seismological polygons of National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations and Research with highly sensitive measuring equipment manufactured at “Institute of Physics and Technology.”

Joint research in combination with other geophysical methods makes it possible to identify features in the behavior of deformation fluctuations associated with the preparation of regional earthquakes and increase the probability of their short-term forecast.
