Satbayev University students won a hackathon from Tengizchevroil

Last week, a hackathon from “Tengizchevroil” company ended in Almaty. More than 27 teams of IT specialists from all over Kazakhstan took part in the final, but the students conquered in an intense struggle and won the main prize - an IT elaboration contract from “Tengizchevroil.”

“Tengizchevroil” announced the hackathon in early May; it was the first external hackathon in the company's history. The participants were tasked with finding the most optimal way to digitalize the oil-gas industry. The teams were given one task to automate a certain business process. The teams worked for three weeks as well as passed the competition’s three stages.

"We have seen the other teams’ presentations. There are very strong solutions, very competitive. I am glad that all these elaborations are the ones of national companies," said Yerzhan Nauryzbayev, Director of ICTT. However, Satbayev University team was the strongest one. After the first round of presentations, ICTT team, which is called “Polytech”, entered the Top 10, then the Top 5, and finally – a victory!

Tengizchevroil’s top managers and Vice Minister of Energy Zhanat Zhakhmetova presented the awards to Polytech team. Polytech is the best of all!
