Satbayev University took part in the international startup contest HK Tech 300 International Startup Competition

From May 23 to May 24, City University of Hong Kong held a large-scale exhibition of innovation and entrepreneurship HK Tech 300 Expo. The opening ceremony was attended by Satbayev University delegation, where CityUHK branch was opened the day before.
HK Tech 300 International Start-up Competition was held as part of the exhibition. This is a global CityUHK initiative aimed at attracting the promising technology startups from around the world in order to scale and further develop.
In two days, the guests got acquainted with 60 projects out of 300 that passed through the CityUHK startup incubator. Satbayev University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev identified several innovative projects aimed at solving the practical problems of society in biotechnology, energy, ICT and artificial intelligence sphere.
In addition to financing and patent support, the competition program has provided extensive opportunities for aspiring tech entrepreneurs: business support, co-investment, mentoring from more than 250 specialists from various industries, as well as cooperation with 100+ public and private partners, universities from 9 countries: Vietnam, Brunei, Hungary, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey and Hong Kong.
The Kazakh delegation paid particular attention to innovations that ensure the sustainable development of the energy sector, growth of energy-saving technologies and telecommunications. Participation in the roadshow enabled to get closely acquainted with the competition teams’ decisions. During the discussion, the parties agreed on technology transfer, exchange of business ideas and assistance in opening spin-off companies based on Satbayev University.
