Satbayev University’s Personal chess championship
Personal chess championship was held among Satbayev University’s students and teachers; the given event was dedicated to Independence Day of Kazakhstan. The winners were Batyrbek Zaripov, Nurbolat Botabekov and David Shnitov. Professor of Architecture and Construction Institute Kumar Bagdaulet won the first place among the teachers. The second place was won by the head of the military institute Vadim Shvachko.
17 people took part in the championship. All participants work or study at the university, they are united by their love of the most interesting game in the world. There were both the experienced and novice players among the participants, as well as the students who took part in chess competitions for the first time. Even one member of Satbayev University national table tennis team, Gleb Gorbenko, took part in the contest.
Within two days of the game, the chess players went through 7 rounds, playing 56 games. Championship was held in full compliance with FIDE rules according to the regulated Swiss system. Alibek Nigmetov acted as a contest judge. Despite the diverse cast, the fight was very intense and uncompromising! All participants of the championship were awarded with special prizes.
Satbayev University Chess Club, led by Alibek Nigmetov, candidate for master of sports in chess, has been operating at the university since 2015. Over the years, the club's members have won prizes in city competitions more than once, and this summer the chess team won the bronze medal of Republican chess competition.
