Satbayev University’s Rector opened the World Chess Championship in Almaty

International chess Championship started in Almaty today. The opening ceremony was attended by Satbayev University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev, who made the first move and opened the game.
842 young chess players from 88 countries participated in FIDE World Cadet Chess Championships 2025 among cadets. Girls and boys from 6 to 12 years old took part in the competition at the highest level - the championship is held under the auspices of International Chess Federation and brought together the strongest representatives of children's chess schools in the world.
Kazakhstan has become a venue for both children's and adult international chess contests of the highest level many times, all of them were highly appreciated by international federations.
Contests are held in the friendly and inspiring atmosphere, and young chess players can not only show their strategic abilities, but also make new friends from all over the world. According to Meiram Begentayev, the given championship will become an important school for future grandmasters and will help popularize intellectual sports among children and youth of Kazakhstan.
