Scientists from Satbayev University at the First International Conference on Geomechanics organized by Kazakhmys Corporation

In May of this year, scientists from Satbayev University participated in the first international conference on geomechanics organized by Kazakhmys Corporation. The event gathered more than 60 scientists and specialists from Russia and Kazakhstan, as well as representatives from governmental bodies and various companies.

From Satbayev University, the conference was attended by Aidar Kuttybayev, an associate professor of the Department of Mining, and Elmira Orynbassarova, the head of the Department of Mine Surveying and Geodesy. Elmira Orynbasarova presented a report showcasing the results of a study on monitoring ground surface displacement at the Zhezkazgan deposit. The research was conducted as part of a young scientists' grant funding and garnered significant interest from the audience, especially the space monitoring methods used in the study.

Oleg Kopytov, General Director of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, noted: "The Zhezkazgan deposit is an ideal platform for conducting scientific research, experimental and industrial testing of new technologies, equipment, and materials. The Geomechanics Conference became an important event for the exchange of knowledge and experience among specialists in this field. Relevant issues concerning monitoring methods and technologies, as well as innovative approaches to solving problems related to mining operations and ground stability, were discussed.

The participation of Satbayev University scientists in such international events underscores the high level of scientific research conducted at the university and contributes to strengthening international cooperation in the field of geomechanics.
