SEMINAR ON KAZAKHSTAN & CENTRAL ASIA WATER RESOURCES

On 8 Feb 2017 KazNRTU Department of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology in cooperation with GKU, Al-Farabi and KazNAU held a research workshop “Water Resources of Kazakhstan & Central Asia".
The seminar was opened by welcome speeches of the Director of Institute of geology and oilgas business T.Ensepbaev and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Yuri Volk, German-Kazakh University.
The purpose of the Waterday seminar – sharing with experience, knowledge and skills acquired in the course of natural scientific research, studying water management problems and ways of their solving.
Janelle Karina, Ramsar Convention expert, delivered a lecture "Wetlands as our natural disaster protection", Barbara Janusz-Pawletta, chairman of UNESCO department for water resources management in Central Asia, made a presentation on their departmental work, V.A.Zavaley, professor of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology Department, made a report “Hydrogeological prospecting results regarding thermal groundwater search in Kazakhstan” and familiarized participants with the progress of underground water exploration works near Zharkunak village, Panfilov district, Almaty region.
The seminar was attended by faculty, BS\MS\PhD students and concluded with a lively discussion of speakers’ reports.
