The Language of Science and Sustainable Development: Satbayev University Shapes a New Generation of Researchers

As part of the Satbayev International Conference 2026, the Department of Foreign Languages of the Institute of Project Management at Satbayev University held a sectional session titled “The Scientific Legacy of Kanysh Satpayev and the Training of Future Engineers in the Context of Sustainable Development.” The session was dedicated to the scientific legacy of the outstanding geologist and to the preparation of future engineers in the context of sustainable development.

The focus of the session was on developing students’ academic and language competencies, as well as their early involvement in research activities.

A distinctive feature of the session was the active participation of first-year students, who delivered presentations in Kazakh, Russian, and English. Participants discussed the role of engineering education in the face of global climate and technological challenges, as well as the importance of integrating language training into the professional development of future specialists.

This format contributed to the development of research skills, critical thinking, and intercultural communication, which are essential components in training modern engineering professionals.

The work of the Department of Foreign Languages in this area contributes to improving the quality of education, fostering international academic collaboration, and developing competencies востребованные in the global scientific and technological environment.
