Horizon Europe regional information day on the fifth cluster was held at Satbayev University, bringing together scientific institutions’ representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The topic of the meeting is the development of cooperation with European Union in such key areas as climate, energy and mobility.

Seminar was attended by Kremen Mileva, International Relations Officer of the European Commission, Aliya Sembayeva, coordinator of the national contact point for Horizon Europe, representatives of European Commission, DFG and the SECCA project. The experts noted that European Commission sees "great potential in the scientific youth of Central Asia." Commission’s task in Kazakhstan is to build horizontal ties, where every scientist, regardless of the country, is a full-fledged partner, and not just a participant.

Seminar was held in the hybrid format, which allowed both university representatives and young researchers from various parts of Central Asia to join the discussion. They learned how to find European partners, what topics are relevant, and exactly how to start participating in an EU scientific program with the budget of more than 95 billion euros.

At the end of the information day, participants had the opportunity to present their work to experts from European Commission. Representatives of Satbayev University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and other universities in the region presented their projects. The experts noted the high level of the submitted projects.

Horizon Europe Information Day, held at Satbayev University, confirmed that Central Asia is entering a new scientific orbit and is ready to become a prominent participant in the flagship scientific program of the European Union.
