UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan Mikaela Friberg-Storey visited Satbayev University

On October 11, Mikaela Friberg-Storey, UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan, visited Polytech to discuss prospects for cooperation, including in the field of achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The meeting was attended by UN Partnership Advisor Dina Khassanova, University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev, Vice-Rector for Science and Corporate Development Yerzhan Kuldeyev, Director of Project Management Institute Bakhytzhan Amralinova, head and chief manager of Office of Commercialization and International Cooperation Aliya Akatayeva and Meirzhan Abdirov.

University staff was introduced by Meiram Begentayev and the floor was given to Zhanna Tulegenova, who presented University’s numerous projects, such as Scout Center at Office of Sustainable Development Goals, the planned international foresight on water resources or the youth environmental movement "Zhassyl El".

— It is very important for us to take responsibility for what city we live in, what country and what planet we will leave to our grandchildren, - she said in her speech. - Everyone is involved in this work with their own opinion, and responds with their heart.

 University’s representatives conducted a tour of the campus for the guests, and Michaela Friberg-Storey congratulated the University on joining the UN Global Contract and excellent work in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals.

Office of UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Kazakhstan operates under the strategic leadership of UN Resident Coordinator and supports the creation and implementation of mechanisms that ensure that all members can fully participate in consultations and decision-making processes of UN Country Team (UNCT), as well as are informed through regular communication and information exchange.
