Volunteer Club has been officially opened at Satbayev University
The solemn opening of Volunteer Club, opened at the university as part of a joint initiative with the UN Volunteer Program, took place at Satbayev University.
The ceremony was attended by University’s Rector Meiram Begentayev, Director of Project Office for Sustainable Development Goals Zhanna Tulegenova, office manager Rustam Akhmetov, as well as consultant and representative of the student volunteer movement Temirlan Kuanysh. On the part of UN Volunteers Program, the event was attended by Tapiva Kamuruko, Head of Directorate of advisory services on UN volunteer movement affairs, Nikita Shabayev, country coordinator of UN Volunteers Program in Kazakhstan, and Tatyana Mironyuk, Executive Director of ALE “National Volunteer Network.”
During the opening of the club, Tapiva Kamuruko gave a lecture on "Volunteerism as a contribution to achieving Sustainable Development Goals", emphasizing the importance of the volunteer movement for society. Satbayev University Volunteer Club members expressed great interest in the given topic and willingness to actively participate in volunteer initiatives with the support of UN Volunteer Program.
United Nations Volunteers Program, operating under the auspices of United Nations Development Program, promotes peace and sustainability through the involvement of qualified volunteers in projects around the world. One of the key goals of the program is the integration of highly motivated volunteers into sustainable development programs.
Creation of Volunteer Club with the participation of Volunteer Program opens up new opportunities for students and university staff to develop leadership skills, acquire valuable skills and participate in solving the social issues. This partnership contributes to the strengthening of civil society and the promotion of sustainable development goals at both the national and international levels.
