I entered the KazPTI in 1966, after graduating from the 11-year-old school named after N. Ostrovsky in the village of Amankaragai, Auliekolsky district (Semiozerny district) of the Kostanay region. KazPTI, and now KazNRTU - was and is the best technical university in the country. My parents and I felt proud, the competition was very large, associated with the double graduation of 11 and 10 classes in one year.

I studied at the metallurgical faculty as a metallurgical engineer. Kazakhstan is one of the powerful metallurgical complexes of the USSR. The metallurgical profession was one of the most prestigious and well-paid, and career growth and a great opportunity to do science were also attractive.

Favorite subjects were special courses in metallurgy. Essentially, we studied the chemistry and technology of almost all the elements of Mendeleev’s periodic table. For me it was very exciting, especially since most of them were in the fields of Kazakhstan. The most difficult subjects were mechanics – strength of materials, theoretical mechanics, theory of machines and mechanisms, processes and apparatuses of chemical technology. Permanent work, consultations, a library made it possible to overcome them, and I received a rating of “5” and “4”. Over the years, I remember many of my teachers, especially in special subjects - Eserkegenov G.M., Nurmagambetov H.N., Ratseva Z.T., Slutsky I.Z., Taranenko B.I. and others. They were top-level specialists, they knew the subjects thoroughly, the teachers were very enthusiastic, in love with their profession.

I think that in my native polytechnic institute received the highest education.

During my studies, I participated in a contractual project on the technology of rare metals. I was the head of the department of metallurgy of light and rare metals of Professor Eserkegenov G.M. After institute, I was recommended to enter to the graduate school, after graduating, I worked as an assistant to a senior teacher, then head of the department of the general technical faculty in Ust-Kamenogorsk. I think that in my native polytechnic institute received the highest education. I always say with pride: Polytechnic institute is alma-mater. Our family - my spouse, two sons also graduated from the Polytechnic Institute. We intend to continue this tradition.

The role of the university in my life is great. I defended my candidate and then doctoral dissertation, became a professor, a member of a range of Academy. I was also elected to the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, twice the rector of the university (Kostanay State University named after A. Baitursynov), twice was the vice-rector of my native university. I am very proud of this! Even now, I am also devoted to my profession, I also want to teach my favorite subjects - metallurgy of non-ferrous and rare metals.

I want to say to entrants that they think well about the choice of their profession, and having chosen, become the most qualified specialist. Then there will be a demand, career growth and everything else. Diligence is the most important quality that a future graduate must possess in order to be a professional in his field.
