Abai is a teacher of generations: Satbayev University has celebrated the birthday of the great Kazakh educator

On August 10, the whole country proudly celebrates the birthday of the great Kazakh poet, philosopher and educator Abai Kunanbayev. His legacy, deeply rooted in the consciousness of the people, has become a source of inspiration for many generations of Kazakhstanis.

Abai's influence was not only universal and cultural, but also reflected on the evolvement of technology and automation in Kazakhstan of the twentieth century owing to the great poet’s follower as Kanysh Satbayev.

For Kanysh Satbayev, Abai truly became a teacher of generations. Kanysh Imantayevich grew up in the family where Abai's work was highly appreciated. In his scientific and social activities, Satbayev always followed the precepts of Abai, striving for the progress of Kazakh science, education and culture. In the effort to realize Abai's ideas about the need for scientific and cultural development of the Kazakh people, Kanysh Satbayev became the first president of Kazakh SSR Academy of Sciences and contributed to creating the country's first Technical Institute.

Kanysh Satbayev actively studied and quoted the works of Abai in his own works, linking them with the scientific and cultural challenges of his time. He actively contributed to perpetuating the memory of Abai. He participated in organizing the events dedicated to 100^th anniversary of the birth of Abai and supported the famous Kazakh writer Mukhtar Auezov, author of "Path of Abai" novel, which described the great poet’s life and philosophy. In his letters, Satbayev expressed admiration for Auezov's work and stressed how important the novel was for understanding the cultural heritage of Kazakhstan.

The lives of Abai Kunanbayev and Kanysh Satbayev, although separated by time, are intertwined through the pursuit of progress and national revival.

On the birthday of Abai Kunanbayev, we remember not only his great literary and philosophical legacy, but also those who continued his work and developed his ideas. Today, Satbayev University proudly continues the work of these two great personalities, combining the traditions of enlightenment and scientific discoveries.
